Jagalchi Sea Food Market.
This is the wonder of Busan in South Korea . Busan is the second largest city of South Korea after the capital Seoul. The Jagalchi sea food market is the jewel in the crown of this famous port city . Known for it’s cargo ship’s and port’s this the trading hub of Korea and connect’s it to the world .
Jagalchi is a huge market and one can get all kind’s of fish and other delicacies here. From trout to salmon to star fish . Crab’s , shrimps , lobsters , trurtles and oysters .This market has variety like no other .The other amazing thing to see are the eels which float around in plastic tray’a and glass aquarium’s used to store them . Water is available in large quantities as fountain’s , pipes , tap’s and bubbles are used to keep the fish alive and fresh . The market is very clean and does not smell at all , like other fish market’s .
I strolled around the market taking pictures and enjoyed haggling with the shop keepers . The array and quality of fish was exceptional .The storage and packaging was A class. Crab’s were over flowing and some even dropped on the ground and ran helper shelter causing a pandemonium at times .It seemed the whole of Busan shopped here and everyone’s need’s were being catered too in this market . My korean driver Wu was not very keen to
enter the market and stayed back .” I am
allergic to fish sir “ he said i will just walk outside , you enjoy the place . Not very far from the Busan Beach this market was a real delight and one of the wonders of Korea . It is part of the CMM Travel’s top 50 places to see in South Korea and now after seeing it i realise why . Just the very space and canvass of the fish Market want’s you to dive into your bowl of prawn curry.
Near by the market are restaurant’s that serve delightful recipes made out of the fish .I had worked up an appetite and was now ready to enjoy the fish . I had trout and baked salmon for lunch along with roster oysters with saki (Japanese liquor). I burped like hell but the food was light and my tummy was feeling just right . I had a multi colored purple ice cream for dessert and then instructed Wu to march on , in our quest to discover this wondrous country.
