BALI entrepreneur Kadek Wiranatha, the man behind the island’s famous Ku De Ta and Cocoon restaurants, has joined with Australian restaurateur Robert Marchetti and a topnotch design team to open a beachfront hotel featuring one of Asia’s largest rooftop bars, complete with fire pit and silent cinema.
Situated on the site of the Double Six nightclub, closed two years ago, on one of Bali’s most famous stretches of sand, the new 146-suite hotel is opening in stages. The day spa, Italian restaurant and all the guestrooms, bar 20, are up and running, with the rooftop bar opening next month and Marchetti’s signature restaurant debuting before the end of September. A 30 per cent room discount is available until November 30.

The Double-Six Luxury Hotel has a strong design focus — Indonesian fashion designer Chossy Latu has provided the smart uniforms, Dinosaur Designs’ Stephen Ormandy has contributed to a collection of striking murals and installations while the restaurants and bars are operated by Marchetti’s handpicked team. A 120m beachfront pool snakes from one end of the resort to the other; the gleaming white Jetsons-style day spa features a sensual “hydro trail”.
Many of the spacious one and two-bedroom suites have ocean views and direct pool access, others have private plunge pools, all come with balconies and large bathrooms featuring a flatscreen over the tub and Hermes amenities.
Guestrooms include an espresso machine, 24-hour butler service and in-suite check-in with welcome cocktail.
